Bridging the Engagement between Citizens, Civil Societies and Duty Bearers in Public Health and Education (BEC-PHEA)

Project summary:

The project supports civil society to engage with local government and education services to improve the quality of education services. This is achieved by: 1) establishing communication or liaison channels between project stakeholders; 2) providing capacity building for the identified stakeholders in communication, as well as information to assist them to understand their rights and responsibilities; and 3) creating feedback mechanisms such as public forums and the community score card (CSC) to voice community concerns, find solutions, and create action plans to resolve identified issues in relation to education. The project works with local commune authorities, education officials, and community-based organizations, including: Association for Peace and Progress of Farmers in Takeo and Association for Peace and Progress of Farmers in Kampot. This will help deepen the benefits from project implementation in terms of capacity building, strategic project management, and supervision.

Project summary:

PDAO’s project promotes citizen engagement with local officials by establishing and training local committees to conduct citizen report cards (CRCs) to assess local service delivery. PDAO also aims to facilitate a round of commune fora to bring civil society and elected officials together to exchange ideas and jointly contribute to the local development process.
